What is Long Span Shelving?
Basically, longspan shelving is a type of shelving system that features long beam lengths and open access to stored items from both the front and back (see image below).
It has a similar structure to pallet racking, but is designed for hand loading and lighter loads. Also it usually has solid rather than mesh decks.
This efficient design maximises the storage density of any given floor space.
It's flexibility makes it an ideal solution for storing items that are different sizes, bulky, long or odd shaped.

Durable
Our standard duty longspan shelving is made from quality steel for long lasting durability. Importantly for durability, the shelf materials are also steel rather than timber, particle board or MDF. In addition, rather than simple galvanised panels, each unit is powder coated in an off-white finish for a professional look.
The upright frames are manufactured as one solid piece. So they are sturdy and can carry the maximum load right from the start.
Easy to Assemble
The units are easy to assemble and setup without tools. They simply slot together for fast, easy assembly. So no bolts, brackets or tools are required for installation. They are also easy to disassemble and flat pack for transport and to a new location if required.
Adjustable Shelf Levels
Moving shelves up and down is an easy adjustment - they simply slot into place. So you can install the shelf levels at any height required, depending on your storage needs.
Configure and Expand Storage as Needed
Longspan shelving units can be extended by connecting additional bays that share uprights, providing economical, scalable storage solutions. There are two types of units that make this possible:

Starter Longspan Bays have 2 uprights and are designed to stand alone.

Add on Bays have one upright and are designed to connect to an existing bay to form a continuous row of shelving.
The standard dimensions of our longspan units are 1.5mWx0.5mDx2.0mH and 2.0mDx0.6mDx2.0H. N.B. the shelves of the 1.5m wide unit have a depth of 500 mm rather than the usual 600 mm.
You can buy individual components like an extra beam or shelf. So you can easily create custom shelving configurations with 3 or 5+ shelves. In addition, you can add to and reconfigure your storage system with new parts, as your needs change over time.
Units Can be Fastened to the Floor for Extra Stability
Longspan units are generally stable on a flat even floor. However, the footplates of our units have pre-drilled holes that can be used to fasten the shelving to the floor for added safety and stability, if required.
