Benefits

Set out below is a summary and brief description of the key benefits of our range of sturdy shelving, workbenches and tyre racks.

Strong and Durable Shed Shelves So Your Investment Will Last

All our products are made from quality steel plus a powder coated finish for durability. So they are resistant to rust/ corrosion, protected from damage by pests and built to last. They are also easy to clean and maintain.

Easy Access Shelving System

The open nature of long span shelving ensures the convenience of easy access to tools, hardware and supplies. In addition, stored items can be accessible from both sides.

Easy to Install Storage Shelving

Our shed and garage shelves are designed for ease of assembly. So the uprights come as one complete, pre-welded piece and the beams and decks simply slot into place without the need for tools, fixings, bolts, nuts or connectors.

Importantly, the units are also a breeze to disassemble and can be flat packed for transport, when moving locations.

Easy to Customise Shed Storage Capacity

There are three ways to customise the configuration of your shed shelving. First, you can determine the number of shelves or tiers per bay.

Second, you can adjust  your shelf heights up and down to get the functionality you desire. So you can set the height of you garage shelving depending on the size of the various sized items you want to store in the shed or garage space available. This means you can have a larger shelf height at the bottom to store bulky, heavy items for stability and safety. So it's easy to de-clutter and customise your shed workspace.

Third, you can mix and match our range of shelf widths from 1.0m to 2.5m wide to fit compact to large shed sizes. This makes it possible to create the perfect fit in awkward shed dimensions.

Pro-tip: Use clear, labeled storage bins to help identify contents easily and measure your largest storage containers before planning shelf heights.

Buy Extra Components as Needed

We sell extra shelf kits and individual component parts. So you can keep costs down by buying extra units and components as you need them. This makes it easy to create or upgrade to 3, 5, and 6 shelf configurations.

Shelving Unit Can be Fastened to the Floor

Our shed shelves are generally sturdy on a flat, level surface. However, for increased safety and stability, they come with footplates that have predrilled holes in them. So the frame of each shed shelving unit can be fastened to  the  floor.

Easy to Maintain Storage Solutions

Because our longspan units are made from powder coated steel they require minimal maintenance. An annual once over check for faults, wear and damage and a periodic wipe down with a damp cloth to prevent rust is all they require. No need to inspect for pest infestations or to ensure that screws and bolts are tight (there are no bolts and screws).

3 Year Warranty

Falcon Shelving offers a three year replacement warranty on our shed and garage racking for manufacturing or material defects. However, we don’t usually hear from our customers unless they want to buy extra shelves or extra shelving units.

Shop Our Most Popular Shed & Garage Shelves

Set out on this page are our most popular products for shed and garage storage.

All of our shed shelving units come with 4 levels or tiers of shelving as standard. However, you can have any number from 2 to 5+ shelves if  needed. You can purchase kits for extra levels of shelving separately if you need 5 tiers of racking. Or build your unit from component parts, if you need 2 or 3 levels of shelving.

Always begin with a Starter Bay (2 blue uprights). You can then expand your storage solution by attaching one or more Addon units (one blue upright) to form a connected row of shelving.

FAQ's

How do I plan the layout and select the right longspan shelving or workbench for my space?

To design an efficient storage layout, you must plan your system before ordering or building. Start by measuring your space's exact interior dimensions and assessing what items you need to store. Choosing the correct shelf depth and type is critical for safety and utility:

  • Match shelf depth to item size: Use deeper shelves for bulky items or heavy parts that require greater leveraging support (which demands stronger framing). Opt for shallower shelves to keep smaller, frequently used items easily accessible.
  • Select appropriate weight capacities: Always establish a clear designated load capacity for each shelf based on your specific organizational needs. Store lighter items on basic shelves, but always invest in heavy-duty longspan shelving options for heavy inventory.
  • Choose between freestanding and wall-mounted units: Freestanding units offer maximum stability, high weight limits, and easy customization. Alternatively, wall-mounted shelves free up valuable floor space beneath them, keeping the floor clear for larger machinery, tyres, or palletized goods.

What are the best practices for safely installing heavy-duty shelving and workbenches?

Safe installation prevents structural failure, protects your inventory, and ensures a flat workspace. Whether installing heavy longspan bays or a heavy-duty industrial workbench, follow these installation standards:

  • Locate structural support: It is absolutely essential to locate and mark wall studs before attempting to install wall-supported shelving. Fastening supports directly into structural studs prevents the system from pulling away from the wall.
  • Ensure perfect alignment: Always use a spirit level during installation to guarantee all shelves and support beams are perfectly level, completely eliminating unsafe slants.
  • Select the right decking material: For custom workbenches or heavy-duty shelves, a 3/4-inch plywood thickness is ideal. It supports heavy loads over long periods without sagging.
  • Secure your inventory: In high-movement environments, consider adding a front lip to your shelves to prevent rounded items, parts, or tools from sliding off due to vibrations or wind.

How can I optimize vertical space and organization using tyre racking and accessories?

An effective warehouse or garage layout relies on maximizing vertical space and creating specialized storage zones to improve daily workflow:

  • Utilize vertical storage systems: High-density vertical storage systems and specialized tyre racking significantly improve available floor space by safely stacking bulky inventory vertically.
  • Implement smart zoning: Group similar items together into designated zones to accelerate picking times and maintain a tidy workspace.
  • Combine shelves with hanging storage: Enhance your storage system's overall function by combining longspan shelves with pegboards, hooks, or hanging storage attached directly to the shelving uprights. This lets you store tools and accessories vertically, completely freeing up your main shelf space.
  • Choose the right storage containers: In humid or damp areas, swap out cardboard boxes for clear bins. Clear plastic protects items from moisture damage and offers instant visual transparency so you can find stock faster.

What are the different types of heavy-duty shed shelving materials and configurations available?

Choosing the right material and configuration ensures your storage system withstands its environment and adapts to changing inventory needs:

  • Heavy-duty steel and metal racks: Industrial-grade heavy-duty shelving is built from heavy-duty steel to handle maximum weight capacities. To ensure longevity, these metal shelves are powder-coated to resist rust and corrosion in tough environments. They serve as an excellent, high-capacity freestanding alternative to wall-mounted shelves.
  • Adjustable and versatile designs: Storage needs evolve, so using adjustable shed shelves allows you to reposition beams to fit various space and size requirements. Whether using adjustable wooden shelves or steel components, customizable heights easily cater to varying storage needs and changing shed dimensions.
  • Fixed vs. mobile options: Depending on your workflow, shed shelving can be fixed or mobile for ultimate space efficiency. Rolling racks allow you to reconfigure your floor plan on the fly.
  • Corrosion-resistant alternatives: For highly humid environments or damp sheds, freestanding plastic shelves are moisture resistant and easy to assemble.

What routine maintenance is required to ensure the safety and longevity of industrial shelves?

Regular inspections keep your workplace safe and keep your items organized and securely off the floor. Implement a simple maintenance routine using these guidelines:

  • Conduct scheduled inspections: Safety standards require that you thoroughly check shelves for structural faults at least once every 12 months. Additionally, inspect shelves for wear, damage, or pest infestations regularly to catch minor issues before they become hazards.
  • Perform hardware checks: Structural integrity relies on secure connections. Always ensure all screws, bolts, and safety clips on shelves are tight during your routine maintenance checks.
  • Prevent rust and degradation: To stop environmental damage, wipe down metal shelves regularly to prevent surface rust from forming. For wooden elements or high-exposure areas, apply a protective coating to actively prevent shelf degradation over time.
